PM Modi Pushes Digital Outreach, Tells Ministers to Engage Gen Z Beyond Government Updates

In a renewed push to strengthen the government’s digital outreach, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised Union Ministers to become more active on Instagram and engage directly with India’s young population through creative and interactive content. During a recent Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that Generation Z primarily consumes information on social media platforms, making Instagram an essential medium for meaningful communication.

According to the Prime Minister, ministers should move beyond sharing routine government announcements and instead use Instagram Reels, interactive posts, and engaging storytelling to explain policies, showcase their work, and build a stronger connection with young citizens. He stressed that communicating in a relatable and accessible manner would help bridge the gap between the government and India’s digitally connected youth.

As part of this broader digital outreach strategy, PM Modi also announced that he will go live on Instagram every Sunday at 8 PM to interact directly with young people. The weekly live sessions are expected to provide a platform for discussions on national issues, governance, youth aspirations, and public participation, while encouraging a more open dialogue between the country’s leadership and its younger generation.

The initiative comes at a time when Instagram has emerged as one of India’s most influential platforms among Gen Z. The Prime Minister’s recent Instagram activity has drawn significant public attention and engagement, reinforcing the government’s focus on digital-first communication. Officials believe a stronger presence on visual and interactive platforms will help ministries reach citizens more effectively, particularly first-time voters and young audiences.

Political observers view the move as a strategic shift in the government’s communication approach, placing greater emphasis on direct digital engagement rather than conventional messaging. By encouraging ministers to create relatable content and interact with citizens through reels, live sessions, and conversations, the government aims to strengthen its connect with India’s youth and make governance more accessible in the social media era.
